Have you kept your New Year Resolutions?

Map of the Algarve

Well, we are now a week into the new year and rather quickly it went by too. So, what have you done this week? What have I done this week??? Have all my New Year intentions just slipped by the wayside or have I been productive?

A funny thing happened when I was updating my Portuguese Language Blog. I was going through some videos that I had recorded last year and I noticed that I had recorded them all with the first week of the New Year.

So you can see where I am going with this?

I was productive my first week and then I slacked off. So I asked myself, 'do I want to do the same this year?' The answer to which would be no, I don't.

I have been doing a lot of artwork and have a map of Israel to finish, the Algarve one is now done. I have updated my Language Blog  (also last weekend) and need to do some more of that today, not tomorrow.
It is funny how we do actually do tend to put things off until tomorrow, thinking that by some miracle, tomorrow will have more hours than today and, if we are not careful, we can let that time slip away and we will never get it back. Tomorrow is always tomorrow, we only really have today. Even yesterday has gone. It is said that to be productive, ideally, we should identify three outcomes we want to achieve for the year, then three for the week, and another three for the day. Three a day is quite a lot. My mother-in-law used to impress me a by her discipline. She would divide tasks up throughout the day, not over doing any one of them. By the end of the week she had cut enough fire wood for a month (she cut down a whole tree!), picked all her carob beans, baked her bread, crocheted an amazing doily, done any minor repairs about the house, tended to her garden and a number of other things.

The only thing I really have to do today is walk some dogs. My son usually does this, but he is working extra hours today so I am doing it for him. I did it yesterday and that was a first for me. Walking two medium size dogs at the same time, didn't seem to bad until I crossed the road with them and I picked up my pace a little (I wouldn't really call it running) and that was enough to excite them beyond their limits. Emma started jumping on Sam's head and all hell broke loose. Sam slipped out of his colar and ran off, I called him back but every time he came Emma jumped on his head. She thought it was great fun. I eventually got her to sit, called Sam back and managed to slip his colar on again, heart racing, I got them both home safe and sound. Today I am going to walk them very slowly, with no running.

So what do I need to do today apart from that. Well I need to make some videos and do some more artwork for a start! Might bake a cake...or not.

What are you doing today?

2018 Here I Come!

So, it is the first of January and just like every first of January we are determined to either change our lives, stop all our bad habits and charge into the new year with a new energy or just continue to vegetate on the sofa. The choice is ours.

Last year at this time I was at home, hangover free (yes I am really boring you will find that out). This year it is the same - I am still  really boring.

My social life picked up in the last month of 2017 though. I entered a singing competition and never won, but I met some interesting people, one of them did win :) A large cash prize and then took us all to a club. Sadly the club was a local one full of 12 year olds and the music was "Kizomba". I would have danced had I not been wearing so many clothes, I was nursing a cold and was terrified of getting any worse. I was also semi responsible for the other articles on the bar that had been placed in my care. My voice had gone and it made conversation next to impossible.
It was still a great night though

Was invited out for drinks by a local mob too - it is always nice to meet new people. On the 30th I went for my usual Karaoke sing (don't judge me!) and was invited to join an a capela choir. Which sounds great. Only it falls on a day when I have to do other things...Maybe I can juggle some things around...

The past few days I have been writing my blog for Portuguese learners and today I got to thinking that I would like to start an online diary. So here I am - 2018 - here I come!

My new years resolutions were to talk less, so writing is a great outlet for all that garbage in my head. A good way to see what come out of my brain. At least here I can edit it, not so true with the spoken word; once out, there it is! So brace yourselves because I shall be posting some very serious stuff. Like;

'How to file your nails properly'
'How to lose wight by only eating air and drinking bathwater'

:)
At the moment I am busy trying to make controversial art, and some commercial stuff too. Might post some pics when they are done. Have a great 2018 everybody!
